Calls on neighboring Kosovo not to interfere.
On Sunday, citizens in Serbia voted in favor of a change in the country’s Constitution to align their judiciaries with European Union Law. The governments of the United States of America, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the European Union released a joint statement ahead of the vote supporting a lawful and fair voting process in Serbia and called on its neighbor Kosovo to not increase tensions in Serbia during the process.
“We note with regret that the Kosovo government has not allowed the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to collect ballots of eligible voters living in Kosovo for the upcoming referendum in accordance with past practice,” the joint statement read. “We call upon the governments of Kosovo and Serbia to refrain from actions and rhetoric that increase tensions, and to engage constructively in the EU-facilitated Dialogue.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for the president and his advisors as events unfold in the European Union.
- For discernment for Secretary Blinken as he manages diplomatic efforts in areas of the world where tensions are increasing.
- For peace between Serbia and Kosovo in the wake of this vote.
